Like major cities, Chicago struggles with issues related to its inner-city youth. Before he retired, Mayor Richard Daley asked the University of Chicago Crime Lab to study programs that might curb youth violence.
After reviewing 30 applicants, the U of C Crime Lab selected a joint program from two of our clients: Youth Guidance and World Sport Chicago. Youth Guidance offers students — particularly at-risk males — guidance, counseling and after-school activities. World Sport Chicago, the legacy organization from Chicago’s 2016 Olympic bid, brings Olympic sports programs (with all their values) to the city’s youth. Together, they offered “Becoming A Man,” BAM – Sports Edition.
Working with the U of C, we developed a creative press launch for the event — preparing TV and print exclusives, arranging demonstrations, and crafting media pitches that showcased the initiative’s unique qualities. National and local press coverage exceeded expectations and earned the group a Golden Trumpet from the Publicity Club of Chicago.
